16 Steps to Dominate in CPA/Affiliate Marketing

There have been some issues with getting the emails for my Free CPA Marketing Course, so I thought it would be good to not just give a “teaser” but to give an outline of what it will be covering. And if you don’t want to sign up, that’s cool too. You should learn a few things from the info below.

Question: How can I be more effective in CPA/Affiliate marketing?

A:

Step 1: Find Your Passion.

Thinking “Outside the Box”

I was listening to the radio the other night and the talk show asked, “What was the best High School Senior Prank you’ve either seen or personally done?” Talk about memories flooding your head. But one stood out amongst the rest and it actually can be tied to your business – even I’m going to stretch to get there.

I attended Branham High School in San Jose, California. It was early June. The year? 1984. Graduation was about two weeks away. I worked after school at Shell (a gas station) 2-3 nights a week and every other Saturday. It was a pretty good job. I still remember my best friend, Dan Ostrander, got me the job.

Good Ideas – Wrong “Public”

You know when you are out and about running errands and such and you run across a sign for a business that stops you dead in your tracks and you shake your head.

“What were they thinking?”

Problem is, often we make the same mistakes online. Let me give you an example. This is a photo that a member sent in which really got me laughing …

Wal-Mart Eye Exam - Bad Location

I mean, she looks fairly intelligent, so why in the world would she open an Eye Exam business right next to the DISCOUNT Wal-Mart Vision Center? Does she really think she will get spillover traffic? Even if she did, can you imagine the conversation?

Competing with “The Big Boys”

This was a post over at Webmaster World that I thought was quite good. I’ve doctored it up a bit with my own methods that I have found effective. As I always state, what can help you the most is by having good relationships … and they start with your supplier.

If you find yourself going up against the likes of Amazon.com and Buy.com you have serious concerns due to the sheer size and efficiency of those companies. But you can compete, it just comes down to “Points of Difference”. We’ll use selling software in this example:

“Slime Marketing” Is Alive & Well … Rockefeller Style

So, I’m helping out Leslie Rohde with a project and he needed some info on ClickBank…and it has been years since I’ve done any affiliate marketing with ClickBank so when I got an email from Eric Rockefeller about an affiliate guide for ClickBank, I jumped on it.

I wasn’t expecting much, but anything at this point would have been a plus.

So, I placed my order and was directed to this URL: http://www.ericrockefeller.com/rsdownload/rockstar_download20192_0.html

Eric Rockefeller Rock Star Affiliate

No big deal. That’s even happened to me. Mistakes happen. I sent a brief note to Eric asking for the correct URL … and it’s late so I planned on hearing from him in the morning.

Rich Jerk’s “Private Virtual Tour” of the Playboy Mansion

By now your inbox should be flooded with emails from all sorts of “gurus” telling you all about the Rich Jerk’s big party at the Playboy Mansion. Let me see if I can save a half hour of your life today. The first video shows the Playboy Mansion via Google Earth, and then shows the mansion’s worth via Zillow, a real estate estimation site.

After the 17 minute video, you are given a name squeeze to see a “Private Virtual Tour” so you can see INSIDE the mansion. But they never take you there … instead, it is more commentary of the grounds via Google Earth. The only time you get to see inside the mansion is to watch an episode of MTV Cribs.

Can’t We All Just Get Along?!?!

Sometimes it kills me the way corporate America behaves … often like 8 year olds … and no disrespect to my 8 year old daughter with that comment.

While there has been an ongoing feud between Google and eBay, it has sprung new life. eBay announced that they were pulling all their ads from Google due to a “protest party” Google was throwing during eBay Live in Boston. You know, the great ads that you would see that were so relevant. If you searched for “dirt” you would see:

Looking for Dirt?
Find it on eBay!

The Long Tail

In Affiliate Marketing and marketing online in general, much has been made of “The Long Tail.” I’m not sure who did it, but someone incorporated the “Long Tail” theory into keyword research and it has screwed up a lot of webmaster’s thinking. The Long Tail is about selling more of less … meaning that you target the lower segments and based on quality of smaller markets, it will make up the difference and make an otherwise unprofitable business profitable.

John Reese Pulls The Rabbit … er, BMW

I forgot to mention at StomperNet last weekend, Brad and Andy gave John Reese a brand new BMW M5, for his work as their top affiliate in StomperNet. John lives in Orlando and was the keynote speaker – and was awesome. Listening to his “mantra” it was clear that he and I share many of the same business practices – including his first rule, always exceed expectations.

But he did more than that when he handed the keys to the M5 he just received from Brad and Andy and gave it to the winner of the “Beginner Fast Track”, essentially the person who took their business from nothing to success in 90 days.

I have the 4:20pm slot on Friday – will be discussing Affiliate Marketing. I’ll be discussing methodologies that we’re using right now to generate solid conversions and ROI.

I’ll be posting throughout the weekend. If you are down in Orlando, track me down, I love talking search.

The Irresistible Offer by Mark Joyner

Our Affiliate Manager has done a review on Mark Joyner’s book, the Irresistible Offer. Now, if you know the stunt that Joyner pulled a few years ago when he ’sold’ all of his software to run his business and cheated a lot of people, you may think twice about taking anything he says in a book seriously. However, the book has solid advice on improving conversions and taking care of your customers. She fully recommends reading the book, and so do I.

Strategies That Provide Results

Over the last several months, I have been providing you with the latest strategies that I felt would provide results, real results for you. As you know, it takes several months to see the results in Google, and the results that have been obtained are impressive. Countless top ten rankings for vital keyword phrases, including a #5 position for a keyword generating over 1200 queries per day against over 4.5 million competitors. If you haven’t implemented the changes I have recommended, I would highly suggest that you do so, for they are working better than expected.
