Google Penalty?

During the “SEO Triple Threat” with Dan Thies and Leslie Rohde yesterday, I started going over the allinanchor check in Google … and “glazed” looks started coming from the audience, so I promised I’d do a video to show how to use “allinanchor” to see if you really have a penalty in Google or not.

The tool I show in this video is one I developed, but you can use NicheWatch for free. The video is less than four minutes long and should give you a clearer understanding how this process works.

Hi Jerry, Thanks for the nice video. I got a question on my personal blog which was ranking #1 on Google UK for a very competitive keyword “buy iphone online”. This has been dropped to #2 but I do not see any changes in the anchor. i have made some changes to the site, how ever all the pages that were targeted for that keyword are not touched. do you have any advise?

    Regards
    Lakkineni

Thanks for this info, Jerry, and for removing the animated advertisement from your blog. I sometimes had to hold my hand up to cover it so I could read and concentrate on your post, so I’m REALLY glad to see it gone!

    Hi Jerry,

Great video. Short and to the point.

Here’s a situation for you to consider. What if you rank for exact match on allintitle, allintext and allinanchor around the top 2 or 3 positions but are on page 6 or 7 for the actual search term?

What do you change then? (there is no dupe content so what could be the penalty?)

    Thanks
    Jason

    Hi Jerry,

Hope you can help me figure out what I need to for some of my sites. They once ranked well for a variety of the keywords I was focusing on in my article marketing efforts. But these days, they aren’t even on the radar. They are still indexed, but no traffic coming to them from G on any of the targeted keywords (so they have almost zero traffic from G).

As far as the Nicehwatch tool, I checked a few terms and am getting a big fat goose egg for the allinanchor. When I do a “link:” search in G, it only returns a link or three for these sites which include one or two of the Ezine articles I did. So it appears G no longer counts 99% of the article marketing I did nor the niche directories I had these in. I’m at a loss as to where to focus my efforts for these sites now. If article marketing isn’t valid for them in G’s eyes for some reason, what else can I do to get them back in G’s SERPs?
