Just saw this over on Google’s Webmasters Blog and it is worth reviewing. The timing of this post is interesting as it is right on the heels of when my server was compromised just a couple of weeks ago. I have added some commentary to it, but basically, this is what you need to look out for:
- Check Your Server Configuration. Apache Server Tips. Windows Server Tips. Areas that you really can’t ignore are directory permissions, server side includes (SSI), authentication, encryption and cross-site scripting.
