When Anti-Spyware Goes Wrong

In our testing, we don’t just test the algorithms and search engine optimization methodologies, we also test software. One thing that I love to do is install and then uninstall and see what happens. I installed StopZilla, a leader in anti-spyware for a few days, let it work its “magic” and then I did the uninstall. After the uninstall, I got a pop-up asking me why I uninstalled their product. I filled out the form and submitted and was immediately redirected to GoToMyPC signup page.

Hmmm.

So, went online and used their “live chat” support and told them what happened. Their response? That it wasn’t normal and I must have had some Spyware on my machine so when I uninstalled StopZilla my machine was no longer protected, thus, the popup occurred.

Is it just me or was your software supposed to keep the Spyware off my machine in the first place? If you are looking for a Spyware program, you may want to steer clear of StopZilla. Something isn’t quite right.
