Danny Sullivan in Vegas!

Brett Tabke, who owns Webmaster World, and knows his stuff when it comes to SEM and SEO just sat down with Danny Sullivan for a nice informal interview that only Brett can deliver.

Danny will be speaking at PubCon in Vegas this coming November and he will spend time focusing on organic listings, which he knows many independent webmasters base their businesses around. He strongly pointed out that video, news, shopping and other verticals are being largely ignored, but are vital in the market.

Here are some nice bites (or bytes) from the interview:

  • He does not believe that Google has reached its peak.
  • Web statistics over a short range are more difficult to trust. Look at long-term numbers.
  • He hasn’t made a decision on what he is going to do next, but he has a lot of options.
  • He complained of things taking too long in the dev cycle in the corporate enviornment.
  • He is still talking to Incisive about striking a deal, but there isn’t much passion in his response.
  • He prefers working in a “small shop” instead of a large corporation.
  • Regarding Search Engine Watch, he worried about the keyword listings at the beginning. But as things evolved and the site becan to grow in popularity, he notice that the rankings just happened naturally based on the content and timeliness of it.

This is excellent news. Danny is greatly respected and I look forward to getting some time to discuss search with him down in Vegas.
