Google Giving SEO Classes?
It has been reported that Google (an employee of Google) is teaching an SEO class. Registration is a whopping $30.00 and is being held at a Catholic University in Washington D.C.
Many are stating that the search engines should take a more active role in teaching SEO to the masses. Are they wanting the search engine reps to teach us SEO? Seriously? Personally, I feel the job they are doing - especially Matt Cutts of Google and Tim Mayer of Yahoo! - is exceptional at Webmaster World and SES.
Also, what do you think they are going to teach you for the $30.00 besides reading of the webmaster guidelines? They will never disclose “this is how to optimize your site”. Why? Simple. Because if they did, and you followed it and you didn’t get on top, you could sue them.
Google isn’t about to expose themselves in that way.
In my view, this course is something that will be very basic and will give good information about the Google guidelines with SEO in mind. However, I do not expect any information to be shared that isn’t already posted on Google’s site already.
If you go and there is a “revelation”, let me know and I’ll buy you a beer at Webmaster World in Vegas.
